Don McCabe is a no till corn, soybean and wheat farmer from southwestern Ontario. He is the Past President of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and Soil Conservation Council of Canada and the director to the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and a Vice Chair of Bio-industrial Innovation Canada.
Don brings a farmer’s perspective to the need for adoption of precision agriculture not only for the farm gate return, but how societal needs can be addressed through data aggregation. Data aggregation allows for greater insights to emerging trends or assistance to deal with emergency conditions evolving. British Columbia farming is regional with a strong hort and supply management focus in the south to the productive northern Peace River region for forages, grains and beef. Possible scenarios using these commodity chains can highlight the value of precision agriculture.
